Aflac NI Achieve RPM Program Certification

IT & Cyber security organisation AFLAC NI have become the first NI organisation to be certified against the Responsible Plastic Management Standard.

Aflac’s certification to the RPM Standard by international certification body LRQA credibly demonstrates their commitment to meeting a best practice management standard.

Antoinette Bradley, Head of Operations at Aflac Northern Ireland stated "we take our social and environmental impact seriously for us it’s not just a nice to have- it’s part of who we are and how we operate. As we worked towards the audit in October, we made several important changes to how we operate from providing additional waste and recycling options in our office, to looking at how procurement could reduce the plastics coming into our business and making more environmentally friendly choices in the things we buy. We offered training to staff and now have a team of 'Plastic Ambassadors' and we encourage all our colleagues to think and act sustainably at home as well as in the office. Having a robust external audit in place helped to validate our efforts and the team are immensely proud of our certification".

Aaron Marshall, Director Marketing and Engagement with RPM commented that “It shows that Aflac NI have moved the team and organisation towards a more ethical and sustainable future by using more responsibly sourced materials and systems and controls to manage plastics responsibly after use. They are clearly leading in Northern Ireland on this important plastic management matter.”

The RPM Standard was developed by a committee of technical and sustainability experts in 2019/20 and has been peer reviewed by standards, environmental and ISO certification bodies. The standard is available for download on the RPM website.

RPM Program and the independent certification body LRQA would like to congratulate Aflac NI on this landmark achievement which clearly identifies them as environmental leaders in Northern Ireland
