RPM Program Officially Launches the Zero Plastic to Landfill Challenge

The world is facing a plastic pollution crisis, with an estimated 100 million plus tons of plastic going to landfill and 12 million tons of plastic waste ending up in our oceans every year. This not only harms our ecosystems and marine life but also affects human health and the environment. To address this issue, we need to take urgent action to reduce plastic waste and promote responsible plastic management. Zero Plastics to Oceans starts with Zero Plastics to Landfill.

Introducing the RPM Zero Plastic to Landfill Challenge: This is a call to action for all types of organizations to commit to reducing their plastic waste footprint and working towards a sustainable future. It is a Challenge suitable for all types of organisations in any types of industry. By participating in this Challenge, organizations can play a crucial role in mitigating the effects of climate change and protecting the planet. There is little excuse for not getting involved.

Why is the Zero Plastic to Landfill Challenge Important?

The Zero Plastic to Landfill challenge is important for several reasons. Firstly, plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time, and reducing plastic waste is essential for mitigating the effects of climate change.  Landfilling plastic waste can have significant negative impacts on the environment, economy, and public health, including environmental harm, waste of resources, land use issues, health risks, and financial costs.  In contrast, achieving zero plastic to landfill can have numerous benefits, including environmental protection, resource conservation, economic opportunities, community engagement, and corporate responsibility. Finally, by participating in this Challenge, organizations can enhance their reputation, improve their corporate social responsibility, and reduce costs.
