At Farrans, we are committed to working closely with the RPM team to achieve Zero Plastic to Landfill certification by implementing a structured and measurable approach to plastic waste management across our sites. This includes actively reducing plastic use, improving segregation, and ensuring all plastic waste is diverted from landfill through recycling or recovery routes.
We recognise the environmental risks posed by plastic pollution and are committed to continuous improvement through collaboration with our supply chain and waste partners to drive sustainable outcomes.
Key Achievements on our Caster Bay project includes
• Currently diverting 100% of plastic waste from landfill through recycling and recovery (RDF).
• Introduced site-wide awareness measures, including posters promoting responsible disposal.
• Engaged suppliers to reduce incoming plastic packaging, including elimination of certain protective coverings.

Spotlight: Giving PPE a Second Life
As Farrans continues its rebranding journey, sustainability remains at the heart of every change. A key part of that commitment is ensuring that no waste is sent to landfill, even when it comes to legacy branded personal protective equipment (PPE).
To support this effort, centralised PPE recycling points opened in May 2026, making it easier for employees and project teams to responsibly dispose of older branded PPE. The new collection points had been introduced to help all Farrans staff who may still have legacy items to recycle and dispose of their PPE responsibly.
Rather than becoming waste, the collected PPE will begin a new journey through Farrans’ PPE supplier, Prosafe. Once gathered, the materials will be processed, shredded, and transformed into building insulation products. This approach demonstrates the principles of a circular economy in action—turning materials that have reached the end of one purpose into valuable resources for another.
By giving PPE a second life, Farrans is helping to reduce the amount of material sent to landfill while also lowering the demand for new raw materials. It is a practical example of how environmental responsibility can be embedded into everyday operations and organisational change.
The initiative reflects Farrans’ wider commitment to sustainability, showing that even safety-critical materials can be managed in a way that delivers long-term environmental benefits. Through collaboration with suppliers, site teams, and recycling partners, Farrans continues to find innovative ways to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency, and create a more sustainable future.
