What developments have you made in your responsible plastic management journey?
We have eliminated plastic completely from our foodservice and retail product packaging.
What responsible plastic management achievements have you made in 2025 so far?
We re-braded at the beginning of the year and now we are able to produce our labels without any plastic. All our packaging is pre-printed and the materials are fully composable. This has been achieved by investing in a new printer setup that uses vegetable-based inks printed directly onto pouches, which could remove up to 300kg of plastic-coated waste annually. In 2025, our team has continued to take real action in our journey toward responsible plastic management. Building on our plastic-literacy training and 2023 plastic audit conducted by RPM, we have focused on improving how we track, reduce, and rethink our use of plastic materials. We’ve also strengthened internal knowledge sharing, had more team members take part in plastic-literacy training, and continued our commitment to continuous improvement. These efforts have contributed to us proudly being nominated for three Sustainability Awards with Business Eye and becoming finalists in two categories for the Responsible Business Awards coming up in September—recognition that motivates us to keep pushing forward.
How has RPM Program assisted in your Journey?
The Responsible Plastic Management (RPM) Programme has been a valuable part of our journey toward more sustainable practices. With access to their plastic measurement tools, expert reviews, and plastic-literacy training, we were able to identify key areas for reduction, most notably our goal to eliminate label backing waste. Their Zero Plastic to Landfill guidance and the ability to use the RPM ‘Engaged’ logo have helped us strengthen our brand credibility, communicate progress clearly, and attract both environmentally conscious talent and partners.
What are your 2025 Plastic Free July goals?
Our Plastic Free July 2025, our team is focusing on practical, team-driven actions that align with our bigger
environmental goals. Here’s what we’re doing this month:
• Launch a team-led “Plastic-Free Challenge”, encouraging each member to swap out one single-use plastic item in their work or home life.
• Run a short internal workshop to share insights from our plastic-literacy training and sustainability award journey, reinforcing our shared knowledge and commitment.
• Track progress with a Plastic Action Board, where we post wins and ideas from staff throughout July to spark engagement.
• Celebrate our 3 Sustainability Awards and upcoming Responsible Business Awards nominations by reflecting on how far we’ve come and setting realistic, tangible goals for the rest of the year.
• New actions will include liaising with our suppliers to see these actions reflect our ongoing commitment to circularity, reduction of plastic waste, and using our rebrand as a platform to lead with purpose and sustainable design.
