Vision Built Achieves Zero Plastic to Landfill Certification
Vision Built Manufacturing Ltd, an Irish offsite manufacturing business specialising in modular construction has achieved the Zero Plastic to Landfill Certification at their Tubbercurry Manufacturing Facility awarded by the Responsible Plastic Management Program in 2026. Vision Built stands at the forefront of sustainable construction delivering Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), which dovetails seamlessly with out commitment to environmental stewardship. RPM Zero Plastic to Landfill Certification builds on these commitments by ensuring plastics used in manufacturing processes are managed responsibly both in production and as waste.
Aaron Marshall visited Vision Built Tubbercurry Manufacturing facility for the Zero Plastic to Landfill certificate hand over and presentation.

Aaron Marshall RPM Co-Founder: “Congratulations to Vision Built on achieving Zero Plastic to Landfill Certification for their Tubbercurry Manufacturing Facility. This certification highlights Vision Built’s strong commitment to sustainable modular construction, responsible resource management, and responsible plastic management. By reducing plastic waste, improving segregation practices and maximising recycling efforts, Vision Built is demonstrating how circular economy principals can be successfully embedded into day-to-day operations across the construction industry. A massive thank you to everyone involved and a special thanks to Barna Recycling for assisting throughout the process. This achievement sets an excellent example for the industry and reflects real leadership in sustainability.”
Vision Built entered the challenge in June 2025 and went through an extensive review of plastics procured, types and how these were managed by the organisation and as waste. Most of the plastics consisted of single use flexible plastics which are required to protect the various building materials, timbers, light steel prior to construction at their premises in Tubbercurry. Other plastics included the insulation materials used in modular construction and a range of rigid and other soft plastics used in the process. The review extend to administrative offices, kitchen and canteen areas where again, a range of single use packaging plastics are used.
Members of Vision Built underwent & were certified in RPM Program Plastic Literacy Training and signage on skips and bins was used to reinforce the importance getting plastics into the right waste bin or skip. Flexible plastics were bailed and palletised for separate collection, keeping them viable for recycling. Where plastics could not be recycled, such as the insulation material which is not mechanically recycled, these plastics were bagged and further aggregated at Barna Waste for shipping to Energy from Waste generation facilities.

Bails of flexible plastics collected for recycling.
Reflecting on the Zero Plastic to Landfill initiative, Vision Built found significant value in the process. The project created opportunities to engage with suppliers and waste management partner Barna Recycling, helping to improve understanding of plastic waste management practices, identify opportunities to increase recycling rates, reduce plastic waste generation, and eliminate plastic from landfill. Barna Recycling provided valuable guidance, technical expertise, and transparent information on how plastic waste from the facility is handled, supporting the success of the initiative.
Dave Garforth Co-founder of RPM Program stated – “By focusing efficiency, raising awareness and ensuring segregation of plastics into dedicated waste streams for recovery and recycling , businesses can both improve their sustainability credentials and reduce the cost of waste, simply by smarter skip management.”
Vision Built is a very sustainably focused business. Offsite construction involves manufacturing building components in a controlled factory environment before transportation for assembly. It offers greater opportunity to manage resources efficiently, reduce waste, emissions and other negative impacts.
Zero Plastic to Landfill certification joins a host of other awards and standards achieved including ISO 14000, 9001, 45001, Lean Business Sustainability Awards.
